Hands on HTC 8X

Windows Phone

8X by HTC

I usually look forward to new smartphones but when the HTC 8X¬†was released I¬†didn’t¬†care much. The built in 16GB memory and no expansion card slot made this phone something I¬†didn’t¬†appeal to me. The other day¬†I got a chance to see it and I was¬†pleasantly¬†surprised by its great design. The clean and modern interface with live tiles immediately catches your attention.

Nokia Lumia 920

This is the phone I have been waiting for to replace my Iphone 5 with. Today I got to spend a few hours with the white version which honestly did not look all that appealing to me. Ill definitely be waiting for the other colors to be available. I would like to point out that I also got to play with the HTC 8X. I just LOVED the design and the feel of it. Unfortunately due to its 16GB memory, its a deal breaker for me. Ill get to this another time.
Coming to the Lumia 920, it is Nokia’s flagship Windows Phone 8 smartphone.

Camera:9/10

This is the main reason why I am switching to the Lumia 920. Offering an 8.7 Megapixels camera and 1920 x 1080 video recording with Nokia PureView technology, it is one fantastic camera. I took several pictures in low light with the Iphone 5 and the Lumia 920 and found the Lumia to offer visibly better results both for videos and stills by being brighter and crisper. Read more »

Traxxas Summit

SummitTraxxas Summit is an all terrain vehicle which offers high-Low transmission and remote locking differentials to ensure your RC can make it thru the toughest of places, and believe me it actually does. Mud, Snow, water(Yes it is 100% waterproof, you can literally throw it in your swimming pool) nothing gets in its way. Thanks to its independant suspension it goes where no other RC can go and you can hold me to this. Now Ive had this monster for over a year and I have yet to find another RC which I like more than this.

Blackberry Messenger

BBM.For me blackberry pretty much died a few years ago. When you have Android and IOS with thousands of apps it didnt make sense to me to retain my blackberry. One thing I admit I miss is the blackberry messenger. Its alternative, Whatsapp ofcourse is there but somehow I still¬†preferred¬†BBM. Read more »

Sony Cyber shot DSC-TX20

I recently started swimming with my 2 and 3 year olds. Since this was their 1st time, I wanted to capture every moment, so I needed a water proof camera. I didnt want the usual rugged camera since I was also going to use it on a day to day basis. I wanted one which was atleast 12MP, waterproof and thin on the pocket. Read more »

Siri Vs Google Voice

Siri vs IphoneSiri has been a hot topic for many since its release. I have to admit the accuracy of Siri is pretty good, one of the best Ive seen. On Android we have Google Voice now which in a way is Siri’s competitor.

So what does this mean for Siri? This depends on the usage. Siri has an edge over google voice for now because it has access to text messaging,¬†calendar¬† social networks etc which for now Google Voice¬†doesn’t. My usage of Siri/Google voice is general information and for this Google Voice wins hands down. Yes peeps, something is better and faster than Siri(Atleast for my usage)

A lot of people wont agree with me on this so to clear any doubts head over to Gizmodo who have a side by side video of 2 of the greatest voice assistants running on the Iphone.

There are a few different google voice apps available on itunes at the moment but the one Im talking about can be downloaded from here.

Microsoft Surface

Windows 8Microsoft Surface RT was released about a week ago but I finally managed to get my hands on one today. Lets start of with one thing at a time. Initial startup took about 5 minutes and was extremely simple. Ill just give a brief review
since Im very excited to “play” with my new machine. ūüôā

Looks: 8/10

This is one sleek looking device. With a screen size of 10.6 inches it weighs around .70kg. Some people might consider this heavy but for me this makes it feel like an extremely well built solid device. The package I chose came with a touch keyboard cover. It is pretty similar to the Ipads smart cover Read more »
