Apple yesterday released its beta version of its new OS, IOS 7 for developers. That hasnt stopped people from getting their hands on it, including me. Before we get to the download links and review, please make sure you do not install this on your daily driver. Being in a beta stage it is bound to have bugs.
Ive been using it for the past few hours so thought to share my initial findings. Read more
One of the limitations of IOS for me was always having to first download audio and video and then thru Itunes transfer to my Iphone/Ipad. Im going to tell you of 3 apps which will change this forever. These are available in Cydia for free.
01) I transmission 3:
I download a lot of Tv shows using utorrent. I then have to convert them and put them in tunes after which I have to sync to my Ipad/Iphone which I then use to stream to my TV. Read more
Lets face it. With installous shutting down its doors permanently a jail broken IOS device just isn’t the same. Lets take a look at a few of the alternatives.
Before you can install these, you would need to add the following repos in Cydia.
The 1st one and my personal favourite is vshare-AppVV I actually prefer this over installous because there is no waiting time. Also no more captchas before you download. There are more apps here than you can think off. Compatibility: IPhone and Ipad
Similar to Installous, this is basically the same. Although it has a decent selection of apps, I found it coming in at a close 2nd to Vshare. Compatibility: IPhone and Ipad
Combined, these 2 would replace Installous in every way possible, or at least it has for me. Happy app hunting.
With the recent jailbreak for IOS6.1 Cydia servers are swamped but that’s not going to stop anyone from being persistent and downloading the much awaited tweaks/apps.
Here is a list of my top 10(In no particular order)
01) Winterboard: If you dont know what this is then you really have no idea about an Iphone/Ipad.
This tweak is really something which was the way Apple should have made the default app switcher. The recently used apps are shown with a preview with an icon on top. To close the running app you simply need flick down. Scroll to the extreme left and you have your configuration toggle with the bluetooth, wifi, #g etc settings which saves you a lot of time by not having to go to the settings each time you want to switch something on/off.

Planetbeing have been running untethered jailbreaks on their devices but havent released it as yet because they didnt want Apple to plug it with the release of IOS6.1. Since IOS6.1 was just released, Planetbeing has tweeted “iOS 6.1 appears to be vulnerable to the exploits we are planning on using. ” and soon after another team member, MuscleNeard tweeted “Hey, did everyone know the Super Bowl is this Sunday? What will you be doing? /cc @evad3rs” which makes me believe that the JB would be released this weekend. Now my primary use of the JB is for the added customization. An Iphone just doesn’t cut it without being jailbroken which Im sure most of you will agree.
Keep an eye out on my blog over the weekend for a step by step guide along with links related to how to go about this.
I recently gave up my Iphone and shifted to Windows Phone 8 only because I wanted a change from the usual OS. I picked up the Lumia 920 a few days back and havent really looked back because its a refreshing change.
My Iphone and Itunes were a perfect match. I had all my videos, playlists and photos neatly organized and flawlessly synced. Shifting to Windows Phone 8 I knew syncing was going to be an issue. To my surprise all was not lost. Read more
Siri has been a hot topic for many since its release. I have to admit the accuracy of Siri is pretty good, one of the best Ive seen. On Android we have Google Voice now which in a way is Siri’s competitor.
So what does this mean for Siri? This depends on the usage. Siri has an edge over google voice for now because it has access to text messaging, calendar social networks etc which for now Google Voice doesn’t. My usage of Siri/Google voice is general information and for this Google Voice wins hands down. Yes peeps, something is better and faster than Siri(Atleast for my usage)
A lot of people wont agree with me on this so to clear any doubts head over to Gizmodo who have a side by side video of 2 of the greatest voice assistants running on the Iphone.
There are a few different google voice apps available on itunes at the moment but the one Im talking about can be downloaded from here.
Im not much of a fan of mobile gaming. I prefer the Xbox 360 or the PS3 over a mobile console any day so you wont find many games on my smart phone. Ofcourse one needs to have at least a few games on them for those boring moments when 1 is just killing time.
One game which caught my attention goes by the name of Read more
